Role Description

The Bid Manager is responsible for develop, formalising and managing bids in line with internal/external stakeholder requirements to match company and corporate budgets & targets. Working collaboratively with internal expertise and resources, provide accurate and timely bids to meet customer requirements and inspire customer confidence/repeat business.

Key Accountabilities

  • Prospect for new business within the budget brief of BU Composite Components Ltd
  • Present Gurit capabilities to existing & new customers
  • Ensure a robust & adequately full Sales pipeline to meet and exceed budget targets
  • Collate & validate team assumptions to prepare robust bids (e.g. piece costs, engineering and tooling)
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and approval controls are managed – inputs & outputs
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure effective buy-in
  • Lead effective bid proposal documentation to meet customer technical and commercial requirements via commercial offers & ensure all sales & project/program folders are maintained
  • Maintain all external customer / industry forum portals
  • Ensure bid-process lessons learned are captured and communicated effectively to ensure continuous improvement
  • Continually develop internal CRM system to ensure best fit
  • Undertake designated projects to fulfil team / corporate objectives (e.g. customer CI)
  • Prepare, justify & maintain a regular schedule of customer contacts within the designated sales region
  • Support the sales team as required with any other tasks assigned

Skills and Experience

  • Good commercial acumen combined with Tier 1 composite manufacturing processes
  • + 3 years’ bid management experience in customer-facing roles within automotive sector
  • Demonstrable stakeholder engagement
  • Effective project team / stakeholder leadership
  • Educated to a minimum of 1st degree level (or equivalent experience; e.g. manufacturing engineering, financial management/economics)


  • Logical and methodical planning and organisational skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Self-driven, perseverant, resilient
  • Ability to establish and sustain effective relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written fluent English language
  • Fluent German (technical & business) & Italian
  • High level MS Office IT skills including Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Project
  • Experience with ERP / bespoke systems
  • Legal / technical governance experience advantageous
  • CAD – CATIA user
